Happy 7 Months Aubrey Joy!

You’re already almost 8 months by the time I post this, and half of this information is different now, but here is what was going on when you turned 7 months!

Another month has passed, and a million more smiles that you’ve put on my face.

  • Bathtime
  • Outside
  • Standing up
  • Dogs
  • Food

  • being in the car longer than 20-30 minutes
  • missing naps or napping in new places
  • letting mom look in her mouth for new teeth

You’re still in 9 months clothes, but at the rate you’re gaining weight it won’t be for long.  The last time we weighed you, you were 20 lbs and 4 oz.

You still have two teeth, but it won’t be long before the top two pop through.

You are developing so quickly!  Right after you turned 6 months old you mastered sitting up on your own, and within a few days you were pulling yourself into the crawling position and rocking.  A few days after you put yourself into the crawl position, you figured out how to pull yourself up and stand!  I cry every time you do something new for the first time.  I’m not ready for all of this growing up!  You are becoming so mobile!  You pull yourself with your arms, you roll around, and you just figured out the crawl motion.  You plop back to your belly after a couple movements, but I’m sure that within the next week or two you’ll have crawling mastered.

Bedtime goes so much more smoothly now, and I am so thankful for that.  I used to put you down, and then you would wake up 2-4 times before you finally fell asleep.  I felt like I was constantly in your room. Then you would wake up 3 times a night.  It was exhausting.  Now after you go to sleep, you stay asleep and I can actually run around and clean the house! You go down around 7 and wake up around 7-7:15.  You wake up 1-2 times a night, and a couple of times you would wake up once before I fell asleep, and then sleep until morning.  That was a glorious night of sleep for me!

We celebrated your first Christmas, and it just made me so happy.  I looked around on Christmas morning and just felt so incredibly blessed.

You try desperately to pet the dogs anytime they are near, but they are learning quickly that you yank on their ears and tails.  Occasionally sweet Daisy will give in.

You got to hang out with our family from Virgina, and you and Jackson just melted my heart.

We gave you a sippy cup for the first time, and you aren’t really sure what to do with it.

Bathtime is your favorite.  You are splashing all around and we couldn’t keep you still if we tried. (I love your bath tub pictures, but I won’t be posting your adorable little behind on the Internet)

You’re personality is coming out, and it just cracks us up!  We are so looking forward to every day with you!  We love you sweet girl!

Happy 7 months Aubrey Joy!

Happy 4 Months Aubrey Joy!

And just like that, another month has passed!  I can’t believe it!  I know I say that every month, but it is so true!  You are wearing 3-6 months in clothes, and you’re almost completely out of 0-3 months.  We’re still hanging on to a couple shirts!  At your 4 month check up you weighed in at 15 lbs 12 oz (90th percentile) and you are 24 3/4 inches (60th percentile).

  • Your exersaucer
  • Sleeping in Mommy and Daddy’s bed
  • Being outside
  • Tummy time
  • Your swing
  • Talking
  • Bath time

  • Being in the car for too long
  • Having gas
  • Being put down at night anywhere other than the swing or our bed

This month you became so much more active! You hang out in tummy time for a while!  You love to stand or sit up.

You figured out how to roll over from you stomach to your back, but you don’t do it often.  You REALLY want to roll from your back to your belly, but you get stuck.  I think you’ll have it figured out within the next week or two.

You’re naps are like clockwork.  You can only make it about an hour and a half between naps before you’re ready to go down again!  You’re taking about 3-4 naps a day.  When I can get you to skip that 4th nap we have an 8pm bedtime and Mom LOVES it.  If you take your 4th nap it’s more like an 8:30 – 9:30pm bedtime… which is still MUCH better than the 10:30-11 you were going to sleep at!

Daddy really wants to transition you to your crib, but of course I’m hesitant.  I like when you’re close to us at night, but since you’re still waking up about 3 times a night (around 11:30, 2am, and 5am) I’m getting closer to moving you on over to your own room.  You have recently decided you don’t want to sleep in your Rock n’ Play… AGAIN.  So you were sleeping in our bed, but then we decided to let you sleep in the swing so we could actually get some sleep! That’s where you’ve been sleeping for the last few nights, and it actually works out pretty well.  The swing puts your right back to sleep, so I don’t even have to make sure you’re asleep after I nurse you.

You LOVE being pushed around the house.  We typically push you around in the Rock n’ Play or in the exersaucer, but you just think it’s the greatest thing.

You like reading stories, I am not sure if you just like when we talk, or you just like the pictures, but they keep you pretty entertained.

You still spit up like a champion, and if you’re not spitting up there is something in your mouth.  EVERYTHING goes right in your mouth.  Your hands, our hands, burp cloths, blankets, toys, you name it!  If you can grab it, then it is going right in your mouth!  I am still pretty sure you’re going to be a thumb sucker for a while.  You won’t take a pacifier, and I’ve caught you on a few occasions falling asleep with your thumb in your mouth.

If you can’t get anything in your mouth, you suck on your own tongue and you make a pretty great duck face.

We haven’t gotten any belly laughs out of you yet, but we’ve had little giggles here and there, and they are my absolute favorite.

We had your first trip to the beach this month, and I’m pretty sure you weren’t the biggest fan. You were pretty fussy the whole time we were there, and the wave scared you.  You love the water and being outside though, so we will try again.

This month you really started to notice the dogs, and you just stare at them.  They’re all starting to pay more attention to you too.

The weekends are my favorite, because we have so much time together.  They always go by too quickly though.

Aubrey Joy, I could just stare and you and snuggle you all day every day.  You are growing so fast, and I can’t believe it!  Your smile makes my heart leap for joy, and I do absolutely anything I can think of to try and bring a smile to your face.  We love you more than you know!

Baby M – 30 Weeks

30 Weeks

Bump Analysis? First time in a while that my hair looks decent.  If you can’t tell, blame my photographer for the blurry picture.  Also do you remember when I was around 20 weeks and I thought I was huge?  I lied.  Now I’m huge.

Month/Trimester? 7 months [28 weeks – 31 weeks] / 3rd Trimester! For some reason in my head, 30 weeks is a milestone.  Maybe it’s because I only have 10 weeks left (give or take)? or maybe it’s because I’m 75% done with my first pregnancy which just blows my mind!

Fruit of the week? This week, Aubrey is the size of a cucumber!  She is approximately 15.2 – 16.7 in long, and weighs between 2.5 – 3.8 lbs!

Development? Her skin is continuing to get smoother, meanwhile her brain is getting more wrinkly for all the necessary brain tissue! She’s also strong enough to grasp a finger… which will just melt my heart the first time she does that to me.

Movement? I THINK she had hiccups this week… I’m waiting for it to happen again to be sure.  It’s absolutely amazing how much stronger she is getting… well stronger and bigger.  Her kicks are getting so much more powerful, and there are times when my entire stomach shakes back and forth while she is doing gymnastics in there.  It’s pretty amazing to watch.

Name? Aubrey Joy 🙂

Testing? Still waiting on the results from my gestational diabetes testing…

Weight Gain?  1 lb this week… Totaling 22 lbs.

  • Excessive pee breaks
  • Tailbone Pain
  • Heartburn daily – I eat TUMS like it’s my job.
  • Lots of discomfort when sitting – she really likes being pushed against my rib cage

Cravings? I don’t think I really have any right now…

Aversions? Buffalo Chicken Dip

Sleep? I am exhausted when my head hits the pillow, I wake up a few time to go to the bathroom, but by about noon I’m dragging, and begging for a nap!

Maternity Clothes? I took advantage of the 50% off Old Navy sale this week and I purchased a couple of professional maternity dresses.  I’ll be needing those next month, and who wants to buy full price maternity dresses that I’ll only be able to wear for 2 months… not me.  Call me cheap.  You’d be right 🙂

Exercise? Walking and the gym per the usual.  My legs were SO incredibly sore after the gym though… yikes.

Wedding Rings? ON!

Stretch Marks? No change here… Still using Burts Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter and BioOil.

Labor Signs? Braxton hicks are more apparent when I am active and walking.

What I miss? Cuddling with Paul at night… we still cuddle, but it’s getting harder with a big ol’ pregnancy pillow in the way.  At one point last week, Paul said, “I’m caught in your big pillow!” he had his foot wrapped between the pillow and the sheet and he couldn’t move.  I died laughing.  He also referred to it as my “big banana pillow” this morning when it was bothering him.  My husband REALLY likes the pregnancy pillow… 😉

Looking forward to? Seeing the nursery come together 🙂 We have started hanging things on the walls, and it makes me so excited!  It still has a ways to go, but you can at least see a nursery coming together!!! [this is also a huge sigh of relief for me, because I am starting to get really anxious as we get closer and closer to the due date!  This planner needs to have things in place!]

Baby M – 28 Weeks [Third Trimester]

Bump Analysis?  Yep. Feeling large and in charge.  Here’s a comparison for you… 4 weeks vs 28 weeks

Month/Trimester? 7 months [28 weeks – 31 weeks] / 3rd Trimester! In case the title didn’t clue you in, we’ve entered the THIRD TRIMESTER!

Fruit of the week? Our baby is the size of an Eggplant! 13.6 -14.8 inches long and 1.5 to 2.5 pounds!

Development? She’s putting on some more fat, and her lungs are mature enough that she’d probably be able to survive if she was born now… that thought is terrifying.  Please stay in there a little longer Aubrey!

Movement? This is my favorite part of pregnancy.  I LOVE feeling her move around, even when she balls up and makes my stomach look deformed.  It amazes me every time I can feel her.  I can watch my stomach move for hours.  In the beginning of pregnancy I couldn’t help but worry between doctor appointments since I had no way to check in on our little Junebug.  Now with all of her acrobatic tricks each day, it is so reassuring feeling her bounce around each day.

Name? Aubrey Joy 🙂

Testing? I head to the doctor on Thursday to be tested for gestational diabetes…

Weight Gain? 1 lb this week… Totaling 19 lbs.  My goal is to stay in the healthy weight gain range of 25-35lbs.  I have 12 weeks left (give or take) so hopefully we can stay on track!

Symptoms? This sounds like a complaint section – but it’s the truth.

  • Acne <– this might be getting a little better?
  • Excessive pee breaks
  • Faint line (Linea Nigra) forming below my belly button
  • Losing hair at my hair line – so much for luxurious pregnancy hair.
  • Tailbone Pain
  • Braxton Hicks — these are slowing down.
  • Crying for no reason
  • Heartburn at least a few times a week
  • Spotting – If you go to the ER freaked out, they’ll tell you it’s pretty normal… but that’s a whole ‘nother blog post…

Cravings? I want some Lucky Charms and Chik-Fil-A… I haven’t had Lucky Charms in YEARS, and I haven’t had Chik-Fil-A in about 6 or 7 months.  I ate it 3 times last week… I never eat fast food that often!

Aversions? Buffalo Chicken Dip

Sleep? I had serious insomnia last week Thursday, but other than that I think I had pretty good sleep this past week.  Aside from after Paul and I fried ourselves at the beach… then neither of us slept, and we were just up and lathering on aloe.  I fried my poor feet, face, and calves.  Poor Paul fried his back, arms, and legs… I take responsibility for his back… I may not be the best at putting sunscreen on people.

Maternity Clothes? Found a bathing suit, which was tough to do… Target likes minimal fabric for bathing suit tops, and that just does not help out anyone with any real boobs.

Exercise? So I took another week off from the gym, because after Paul and I took a long walk, my leg was so stiff the next day I decided I should still be taking it easy and just walking.  I think I can head back to the gym this week, but given the current situation of my sunburnt feet, I am NOT putting tennis shoes on until they feel better! So I may do nothing productive this week for exercise if it involves wearing shoes.

Wedding Rings? ON!

Stretch Marks? Just the same ones I cried over last week.  I usually use Burt’s Bees Mama Baby Belly Butter when I wake up, after my shower, and when I head to bed.  I ran out of BioOil and I am too lazy to go buy more right now…

Labor Signs? Braxton hicks seem to be more sporadic…

What I miss? Stomach sleeping… this won’t change.

Looking forward to? Paul and I are headed to Destin this weekend for our Babymoon!!  Destin is our little place I think.  It’s where he took me for my birthday when we first started dating, and it also happens to be the same little place where I knew I wanted to marry him.  Lucky for us, the forecast is currently beautiful with highs of 64 and 66… given our current sunburns, that may be a blessing in disguise.

Baby M – 26 Weeks

Bump Analysis? If I stand up straight and look down, I only see my belly.   I’ve officially lost sight of my toes… This is also my “I haven’t left the house all day, and I don’t plan to” look I’m rocking.

Month/Trimester? 6 months [22 weeks – 27 weeks] / 2nd Trimester!

Fruit of the week? Our baby is the size of a head of lettuce! 13.6 -14.8 inches long and 1.5 to 2.5 pounds!

Development? Her eyes are forming, and will soon open.  She’s grown eyelashes, an her immune system is ready for life on the outside by taking in my antibodies. She’s practicing taking breaths of amniotic fluid, not air.

Movement? She likes to do gymnastics in the middle of the night after I’ve woken up to go to the bathroom… her gymnastics then keeps me up for about 45 minutes to an hour.

Name? Aubrey Joy 🙂

Testing? None right now!

Weight Gain? Back to 1 pounds this week… Totaling 18 lbs. I may have gotten really excited when I got to share that news with Paul this morning 🙂

Symptoms? You’ll see I’ve taken my back pain off this list… PARTY!  I am 99.9% positive the exercise has helped rid me of the crazy back pain.  I still have it on occasion, but NOTHING like it was!  Paul and I even went and did a 2.5 mile walk this weekend with the dogs, and my back didn’t hurt once!

  • Acne
  • Excessive pee breaks
  • Faint line (Linea Nigra) forming below my belly button – not cute.
  • Losing hair at my hair line – so much for luxurious pregnancy hair.
  • Tailbone Pain
  • Braxton Hicks
  • Crying for no reason… yah this is back.

Cravings? This week I NEEDED nachos from this restaurant called Duffy.  I also needed Dunkin Donuts.

Aversions? Buffalo Chicken Dip

Sleep? It’s happening… I’m entering the awful stage of restless pregnancy sleep you hear about. I’m waking up 2-3 times a night to go to the bathroom, and though Aubrey’s kicks don’t wake me up at night, if I wake up they keep me awake.  I’m also tossing and turning like crazy trying to get comfortable.

Maternity Clothes? I did go shopping this week and I bought some maternity shorts, because it’s March in Florida, and shorts are a necessity.  I also bought some new workout gear.

Exercise? Exercise went really well this week.  I’ve done a lot of cardio and strength training, which is making me feel better.  I do think I may have hurt my groin a week or two ago, so this week I’m taking it pretty easy in hopes that it heals.  I’ll probably just be doing some walking with the dogs and enjoying this weather!

Wedding Rings? ON!

Stretch Marks? Pretty sure I’ve lost the battle.  They are pretty faint, but I’m pretty sure I’ve got some little stretch marks.  After my shower I use Burt’s Bees Mama Baby Belly Butter, and before I go to bed at night I use BioOil.

Labor Signs? Braxton hicks are becoming a pretty daily symptom.  Not consistent, but I usually have at least 1 a day.

What I miss?  Sitting without my butt hurting…

Looking forward to? This weekend my sister is throwing a baby shower for me in Tallahassee with the help of some of my friends!  I am so incredibly excited to see everyone, and to celebrate this sweet little Junebug growing inside me!  🙂
