Happy 10 Months Nolan Paul

For some reason 10 Months is so close to 1 year old that I just keep getting sad that you’re already almost 1! Since we are currently living as gypsy’s for the next few months, I don’t have any idea where the sticker is for the monthly picture, and the rocking chair is in storage… so this will do.

This past month with you has been so much fun! You’re development is just exploding!

You learned to clap your hands… which is just so stinkin’ cute! You give big open mouth kisses, and you wave. You also LOVE balls… doesn’t matter what kind. You see one, and it’s game on. You throw it, and play fetch with yourself! I’m also pretty positive “ba” is one of your first words!

Speaking of words… you say make all sorts of noises. “Ma ma” “da da” “ba” and “pf”. When you see a ball, you always say “ba”, which makes us think this is considered a word. You also know mama and dada… it’s a debate which one came first. Obviously, I think mama.

You are standing, and letting go to test your balance. I know it won’t be long before you’re walking… which is terrifying because you’re already climbing things. We lived at Auntie’s house for less than a week, and you already figured out how to climb the stairs and onto the picnic table.

You LOVE to eat, but you need protein or you get hangry. You know how to use straws, but you still won’t really use a sippy cup.

You are a momma’s boy for sure. You do not like when I walk away. You will also be perfectly happy playing until you see me, and then you cry and crawl to me until I hold you.

You had your first taste of sugar tonight when I gave you a bite of your sister’s ice cream to celebrate Grandma’s birthday… and Grandpa gave you a sip of his chocolate shake… you’re definitely the second baby because Aubrey was not allowed to have sugar for a really really long time.

You take much better naps now, and sleep so much better when it is pitch black. You typically sleep through the night, but the last two weeks have been rough. I’m not sure if it’s the change in surrounding, developmental or teething… I just know it’s making us drink a lot more coffee.

You bite. Hard. Every time I hold you, you lean over and bite my arm, and occasionally my chest. You’re quick, and it really hurts. You’ve bruised my arm, and left lumps you’ve bit so hard. When I catch you to stop you, you laugh… so there’s that.

Good thing you’re so dang cute.

You are so incredibly sweet. You love your sister and cousins. You brighten my world, and I am so torn between wanting to keep you little and being so excited to watch you grow up.

Also, we learned you look dang cute in a hat!

Happy 10 Months my sweet boy!

Happy 8 Months Nolan Paul!

My sweet little boy!  You’re 8 months old, and every bit a momma’s boy (and I’m totally okay with that and all the snuggles).

You’re 21 lbs and 14 oz and still in 12-18 month clothes.

You had a rough couple weeks again.  You cut all 4 top teeth within a week.  You were miserable!  Then when we started getting back to normal, you got an ear infection… and then you broke out in an allergic reaction to the amoxicillin.  You’re officially allergic to penicillin products like your momma.  My poor baby, I just wanted to make you feel better, and there was just one thing after the other.

You scoot around ALL over the place!  You are so so close to crawling, and any down now you’ll be going wherever you want.  You still love standing, and I can see how bad you want to be mobile. We joke that you’re big into yoga… see downward dog below.

You stopped eating solid foods for a while.  You were just so upset anytime I put you down.  Well, once those top 4 teeth cut through you are just happy as a clam when you eat.

We started transitioning you to two naps a day.  It helped you with your naps almost immediately.  You still aren’t the best napper, but now you usually nap for at least an hour each time.  Sometimes we get lucky and get a good 2 hour nap… but when it happens it is unpredictable.  Sometimes it’s during your morning nap, and sometimes at the afternoon nap.

Your smile melts my heart, and your laugh makes me swoon.  You are the most amazing little boy!  Happy 8 months sweet boy!

Happy 8 Months Aubrey Joy!

I started this blog post early (at the same time I did your 7 month post) in attempts to get this one done on time and apparently I’m successful!  Today Aubrey is 8 months old!

These pictures were easier to take before you could move around everywhere!
You are just the most entertaining little chunk!

We brought you to the doctor this month, and you were 27 inches long (70th percentile) and wait for it… 20lbs 8oz! Which puts you in the 95th percentile for weight!

Your top two teeth have cut through, and while I was changing your diaper this morning I discovered another top tooth cut through.. which means you now have 5 teeth and I had no idea.  Teething does not seem to bother you.  You don’t drool (like at all which most people think is really weird), you don’t get super fussy all day, you don’t wake up a ton at night…I’m not complaining.  You started grinding your teeth, which I’m hoping is just because you’re getting used to the new ones that have come in.

This month was a developmental whirlwind!  Last month you crawled a little bit before you plopped onto your belly.  Now you’re crawling all over the place!  There is no keeping you in one place.  You pull yourself up to stand like it’s nothing.  Occasionally when you stand you’re already letting go to try and balance. I’m pretty sure you’re going to be an early walker… which is slightly terrifying for me.  Grandma walked at 8.5 months, and your dad walked at 10 months.  Apparently you’re going to take after them, because you’re already trying to walk.  You walk along the couch, your crib and if we hold your hands.

You figured out how to blow air out, and you are always blowing air.  You LOVE knocking down block towers.  Any time I stack them, I rarely get past 3-4 blocks before you knock them over.

You make a bee line for bags/backpacks and shoes.  Zippers and laces are right up your alley, right there with remotes and phones.

You crack us up when you see yourself in the mirror.  You always turn your head completely sideways and hang there looking at yourself.

Right now you’re a momma’s girl and you love being close to me.  You’ll go to other people for a few seconds (maybe minutes) before you’re reaching for me again.  (I’d be lying if it didn’t give a little bit of joy every time you reach for me… but just so you know I won’t pass you off to anyone who doesn’t love you so it is okay to be with other people).  We are working on getting you adjusted to being away from me for little periods of time.  You successfully made it in the church nursery today without getting kicked out! (we dropped you off after the worship, so that may have helped).

You dropped from 3 naps a day to 2 naps a day this week, and it has actually been a very smooth transition.  We had to move your bedtime up to compensate for the lost nap, but you seem to be handling it well.  You go to sleep around 6:45 and wake up around 7.  You wake up 1-2 times a night, but the last few days it has only been 1 time and you slept through the night.

You are currently battling eczema, and none of the things we are using seem to be helping.  We have you on a prescription from the doctor, but it doesn’t seem to be helping much It’s taking over the back of your legs, and your back.  Hopefully it goes away soon, but fortunately it doesn’t seem to be bothering you.

We took you to the park and let you play on the swings, and you LOVED it!  You had such a big smile, and you were bouncing up and down.  It’s your new favorite thing to do.

You are so serious, but you’re laughing more often.  You laugh at things that I don’t plan on you laughing at.  When we actually try to make you laugh, you stare at us.  Then we do something random (like throwing a block up to catch, and when I miss it bounces off the wall and you die laughing).  I LOVE hearing you laugh, and I love that you’re laughing more often.

I love watching you grow up, but it is so bittersweet. Happy 8 Months to my favorite girl!

Happy 5 Months Aubrey Joy!

So I am almost a week late, but life has been insane!  I think this month has flown by, but it has been so incredibly fun with you!  You keep us laughing, and we love how interactive you’ve become!

  • Putting EVERYTHING in your mouth
  • Looking at yourself in the mirror
  • Playing with your feet
  • Any activity toys
  • Sitting up
  • Outside
  • Bath time

  • Bedtime.  Womp. Womp.

You’re weighing in around 18 lbs, and still wearing 3-6 months clothes. When people meet you, the first thing they say after they find out how old you are is, “She’s a HEALTHY girl!” AKA you’re a little chunker, but it’s just the cutest!

There was a week this month, where you learned something new almost every day!  It has been so fun watching you figure things out!  One day you figured out a new screeching sound you can make, then you figured out how to blow spit bubbles, and then you found your feet!  All within 3 days!

You roll over both ways and scoot all around when we lay you down.  You’ll be crawling in no time!  You can also sit up for a brief second before you start to lean.  Sooner or later you won’t need our help.

I am FINALLY seeing a light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to spit up! (Praise God!… Literally!) you are still spitting up, but a fraction of what it was before.

You are starting to really notice the dogs, and you just stare at them as they play.  You try to pet them, but instead you just hit them.  We’ll work on it.

We’ve officially reached the point where you drop EVERYTHING on the floor.  I know you’re learning, so surprisingly it doesn’t bother me…yet.

Along with dropping things, you’re a grabber!  You see something you want, and you’re quick!  You’re favorite thing to grab is my hair… it’s not my favorite.  You’re really determined when something is out of your reach. You try nonstop until you reach it or we hand it to you.

You don’t have any teeth yet, but it’s just a matter of time.  I can see both of them under your gums, so it could be any day now that they break through!  Maybe we’ll sing, “all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth” for extra encouragement. 😉  The weirdest part is, teething doesn’t seem to be upsetting you.  I think other than excessive drool and chewing on everything it doesn’t seem to be phasing you.  I didn’t even know your teeth were coming in until the other day when I caught a glimpse in your mouth (which is NOT easy to do, because as soon as I try to look your tongue starts searching to suck on my finger).

You’re working on dropping from 4 naps a day to 3 naps, but sometimes you just need that extra catnap before bedtime.

Before we moved, you were sleeping in your own room and it took be about 10-15 minutes to put you to sleep.  Then we moved… And bedtime crumbled.  You’re back in our room because yours has been under construction since the day we closed.  Now it takes about an hour and a half to get you down.  If I stop nursing you, your world comes to an end as you know it.  So my nights are basically spent laying in bed with you.  I go back and forth between absolutely loving the snuggles, and wishing I had the freedom to get stuff done and have our room back at night. We are almost done with your room, and then we will transition you into your room… And the crib.  I’m seriously dreading this, and I fear there may not be a lot of sleep for us during this transition. (Since I’m late on posting this, you started sleeping in your crib this week!  But that will be in next month’s post).

This month you got to spend time with 2 of your great grandmas, and you’ll meet Grams next month!

You were such a good baby during our move.  It was a long weekend, but you just snuggled with whoever was holding you.  IMG_8970

I love when you get excited, because you’re whole body wiggles. It cracks me up!

Other than bedtime, you are just the happiest baby.  Your little giggles are the sweetest, and your daddy and I will do just about anything to get you to laugh.  We absolutely love you sweet girl!
